What Are Semi-Finished Pearls

Semi-finished pearl refers to the perforated pearls that have not been made into pearl jewelry, such as those that have been punched half a hole, have not been made into pendants and earrings, or a string of pearls selected to be made into a pearl necklace. It can be used for jewelry making, DIY, decoration.

 

Different Types Of Semi-Finished Pearls

Loose Pearl: The loose pearl is single bead, not be made into pearl strand or pearl jewelry. The pearl itself is no hole, it can be used for decoration or inlay. More use is for drilled the half hole to make the earrings or pendant, or drilled the two hole to make into the pearl strand or finished jewelry.

Pearl strand: The pearl strand is made of same kind of pearls with holes, but it is not finished product, it can’t be used for direct wearing, it needs secondary processing. Normally you can cut them off then redesign it, add the clasps or other accessories to make into the finished jewelry.

 

How To Distinguish The Quality Grade Of Semi-Finished Pearls

The unique quality or ultimate beauty of real natural cultured freshwater pearls, lies in their luster or color. The luster presents a soft rainbow color, which is just opposite to the shining light of diamonds. It is the primary consideration when purchasing pearls. Among freshwater pearls, the high-quality pearls with excellent light and no defects are AAA pearls; AA grade pearls with good light and a small amount of defects; The light with more defects is grade a pearl; Pearls with defects or threads with poor light or even dead light are class B pearls. Generally, this kind of pearl is mainly used for decoration or medical and health care.
